Nabucco

  • Florida Grand Opera (map)

Nabucco, King of Babylon, conquers Jerusalem and enslaves its people, declaring himself a god above all others. His adopted daughter Abigaille, driven by jealousy and ambition, seizes the throne for herself the moment Nabucco’s arrogance brings down divine punishment — striking him with madness. As the enslaved Hebrews mourn their lost homeland in one of opera’s most beloved choruses, Nabucco slowly regains his sanity and his faith, setting the stage for a final reckoning with Abigaille and a reckoning with the cost of his own pride. Verdi’s early masterpiece is a sweeping story of conquest, betrayal, and redemption — propelled by some of the most stirring choral writing ever composed.

Kate will make her role and house debut, singing Fenena.
